We can’t even imagine the pain of a mother who lost her child due to some incident. Whether they are animals or humans, all mothers love their children above everything in the world. It also happens with the mothers in the wild. Many of them can hardly get over such pain and they are left with no choice but to deal with the pain themselves. 

The same case has been noticed with a lioness in Etosha National Park, Namibia. But she has chosen to forget her pain by taking care of a special kid that belongs to a different species. It may sound weird but the lioness indeed takes care of a springbok after losing her cubs.

A few days ago, the lioness’ heart was broken when the male lion killed all of her young cubs. After that, she spotted adopting a springbok and raised him as her child.

Photographer Gordon Donovan was one of those lucky visitors who got the chance to witness this stunning maternity in the wild. We are thankful that he captured these heartwarming moments for us to see and behold the sight of their love.

At first, Donovan thought that the springbok was nothing but her prey, but what happened next was totally unexpected for him. The lioness was gently playing with him and also protecting him from other hungry lions around him.

The 53-year-old photographer further said that it was really heart melting to see the lioness taking care of the young springbok. She was licking him with love.

When she captured the springbok, he thought that she would kill him. But instead of making his prey, she started cleaning springbok. It was one of the most mysterious things in nature.

Donovan was extremely happy to witness this amazing sight, and he found his journey worthful. He said that a lot of photographers wait for their entire life to capture this kind of glimpse, but he was lucky enough to shoot this.
