The Barreleye Fish is primarily found motionless, using its large fins, in the deep, dark waters of the ocean, often at depths of around 2000 to 2600 feet. It prefers to reside in areas where sunlight is scarce or twilight zone. Like many other deep-sea dwelling creatures, the special features of the Barreleye fishes, such as glowing green eyes, enable them to see in the dark.
