This sweet dog was intentionally starved by her owners, which led to her untimely death. The cruelty and mistreatment Tiggy endured were so awful that the people investigating the case were deeply disturbed by the level of abuse she suffered. Here’s the whole story.

Kerry Patterson and Reece Milburn found Tiggy in an abandoned state on the roadside. They immediately informed the local council about the dog. But it was not only the case of abandonment when an animal protection officer arrived at the location in Northumberland, they claimed it was the “most severe pet case in 15 years of service.”

Tiggy’s condition was heartbreaking- she was completely devoid of fur and extremely malnourished. Her ribs were visible through her emaciated body and she was infested with mites. She was so weak that she couldn’t even stand.

Just a few days before Christmas, the heartbreaking images of Tiggy spread quickly across the internet, touching the hearts of people far and wide. These pictures showed her in a terrible state, and they caught the attention of Northumber County Council. The council asked for help from the public to find out who had been responsible for Tiggy’s suffering. It wasn’t long before they received l; letters pointing to Patterson and Milburn as the ones behind Tiggy’s pain.

Accused sentenced to 12-week and fined £120.

On Thursday, March 3, the couple had to face the court for their actions. They admitted their crime against Tiggy, a dog that’s supposed to be protected, and also for neglecting another dog they had, Enzo. This poor dog, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was struggling with skin problems and mites that were making his life very difficult. As a result of their cruelty, Patterson and Milburn were given a 12-week prison sentence. They were also told they could never own a pet again. They also had to pay £120 as a fee to the victim.

The council’s spokesperson, Philip Soderquest, called this one of the worst cases of animal cruelty that the country had ever seen. The council’s team that looks after animals worked really hard to find out the truth and make sure the people responsible were held accountable. After two long years, justice was finally done. 

Ultimately, Tiggy got a loving life.

The kind person at Berwick Animal Rescue Center took care of Tiggy and helped her get better. Tiggy now has a new name and a new life. She’s completely healthy and living happily in a loving home with new dog friends.

Enzo, the other dog, is still waiting for a forever home in a kennel. Tiggy’s story reminds us of the importance of treating animals with kindness and giving them the care, they deserve.
