It is a touching tale of the positive interaction between a kitten and a scared and sick dog at the vet.

Ginger, the kitten, was found in a drain after a heavy rainstorm, completely drenched and in need of immediate help. The one who rescued him was brought to Greenside Animal Hospital, and since they didn’t know anything about his health. When vets examined him, they immediately put him in the isolation ward, where he could heal and recover in peace.

When Ginger arrived at the hospital, he was very nervous and confused. He was only 8 to 10 weeks old and a bit wary of everyone walking by and caring for him. Dr. Joubert and Dr. Suzetta, owners of Greenside Animal Hospital, told the Dodo that initially Ginger loves attention and shows friendly behavior with the team crying for him, but only when he overcomes his fear. At first, when any of them enter the isolation ward, he is cautious but if he notices them bringing food, then he is happy to creep out of his shell and interact with them.

Anne got the isolation ward all for himself, except for Anne.

Anne, the dog, was also brought to the hospital after being rescued from a bush. She was hiding there, near a sports club, when a trainer at the club spotted her. The poor dog was covered with fleas and ticks and was very weak. When the vets found it, they promptly sprang into action trying to heal her and got her settled into the isolation ward. Anne didn’t mingle with everyone and lay quietly in the crate.

Usually, the dogs and cats are kept in separate areas, but the isolation ward is common for both.

However, the isolation ward was common for both dogs and cats but Ginger and Anne’s crates were in different rooms and there was no way for their contact. But, Ginger had other plans.

One day when staff walked into the isolation ward, they were amazed at what they noticed. Ginger was not in his crate, instead, he was cuddled up with Anne in her crate.

The staff said that they underestimated the kitten’s ability to wriggle itself through the crate’s door. In addition, they stated that it has been noticed as some dogs don’t react well to cats but this was vice versa. However, they never considered keeping the kitten and dog together but when they saw them together comforting each other, they changed their plan to separate them.

Everyone’s fears were immediately put at ease when they saw Ginger and Anne cuddling each other. It seemed like they had dedicated their lives to each other.

Their every attempt to keep them in separate crates was in vain. In the starting days of discovering them together, the staff used to move the kitten back into his cage, as his food and water bowl were there, but he immediately made his way towards Anne.

Now Ginger and Anne are sharing a crate full time and caring for each other. Anne was so weak when she arrived at the hospital but since Ginger accompanied her, she is recovering very fast as if Anne is giving her strength. The staff at the hospital is as happy as the dog, because the kitten has become emotional support and has a sense of calmness and safety for her.
