German Shepherd Dog Wandering On Streets Of Detroit With Stuffed Animal Gets Rescued

It was nothing short of heartbreaking when locals reported a German Shepherd dog wandering on the streets of Detroit. The dog had nothing but a stuffed animal in its mouth to keep it company. Now you can imagine how lonely it was. According to FOX 2 Detroit, when locals saw the dog wandering on streets alone, they named her “Nicholas”, though she is a female.

As the dog’s story spread throughout the city, a number of local groups, including South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery and Pawzable Dog Training, Almost Home Animal Rescue, etc., came forward to help her. When they asked neighbors about the grief-stricken dog, they reported that the dog became homeless after the death of her owner.

They planned to trap the dog to determine her safety. Katrina Weaver, the owner of “It Is Pawzable”, told FOX 2 that it was so amazing when everybody came together and worked as a team to save the dog.

It all began when a boy posted the pictures of Nicholas on Facebook and the post spread quickly among the local people. The local groups formed teams to find her and took help from the neighbors too. After asking everyone, they gathered a lot of new information about the dog that could help them in searching for her. One neighbor reported that she had been roaming the streets for months, returning to the same area every few days. They set a trap and the dog was now in their care. Almost Home No Kill reported that fortunately, their rescue mission was successful.

They also stated that Nikki (Nicholas) is absolutely fine but she had a heartworm which will require four weeks of treatment. South Lyon Murphy also informed the locals that they could apply to foster the pup. As she was getting recovered, they sped up their process to find a forever home for Nikki.

Nikki still loves to cuddle her beloved stuffed animal. I Hope Nikki recovers and finds a new home soon!
