A heartbreaking announcement was made by the family of Cheems lately- Our beloved meme dog has passed away. We all are aware that “Cheems or Baltze” was suffering from cancer.

Who was Cheems (Baltze)?

Cheems was a Shiba Inu Dog, native to Hong Kong, China. He was just a year old when a kind family from Hong Kong adopted him and gave him the name Baltze. They recognized his unique personality and charisma, and featured him on his own Instagram page, where he gained popularity due to his hilarious photos, over the period.

Every social media user is familiar with this ironic dog character “Cheems”, though his real name is Baltze or Ball Ball. The first meme featured on Cheems was based on a hilarious mispronunciation, such as known for liking Cheeseburgers, but he mispronounces, “Cheeseburger”. This meme trend continued with other hilarious ones and Cheems had become the king dog of the meme’s world.

Cheems was diagnosed with cancer.

A few days back, Baltze’s family shared the details about the recent events and stated that he had been diagnosed with cancer. After turning 17, he underwent a series of tests which revealed the presence of cancer in his body.  They also shared that doctors suspect that the tumor has expanded, and there is a high probability that it was cancer. However, it was very difficult to assess more accurately because of its presence between the pleura and the lungs.

The family also shared pictures of Cheems’ x-rays before and after the fluid was removed from his lungs, but he couldn’t make it.

An Instagram post published on August 19, 2023- Baltze had passed away the previous day. He fell asleep on Friday morning after his last thoracentesis surgery. The family was planning chemotherapy or other possible treatment to cure his disease, but it was too late, and he had said goodbye to everyone.

Baltze’s owners appeal to everyone to not ‘be sad’, but to remember the joy and fun Baltze brought to their lives.

Cheems is no more, but nobody will ever forget the laughter he brought especially during the Pandemic, becoming our beloved meme dog. Thank you Baltze!!!!
