Misha and Dash, two brown bears, have been stuck in a tiny cage in a restaurant, America, for 10 long years. Thankfully they are freed from that flooded cage and take their first step to freedom.

The two brown bears used to serve as tourist attractions and could do nothing but pacing back and forth, trying to relieve themselves. Many people witnessed them often banging their heads against the cage or climbing the bars. They would do anything to try to free themselves and bring some joy into their lives.

Things got worse when their cage was placed right on a riverbank, and it often got flooded. As the water level rose, their cage became flooded, and they would submerge completely in the water. How could individuals become so cruel, abandoning them in the water, while no one extended a helping hand to alleviate their plight. They had turned into a spectacle for all, yet the depth of their pain remained unnoticed for all.

International Animal Rescued tried for years to save these two bears.

Finally, IAR and the foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) managed to convince the restaurant owners to release the bears to their care. Lis Key, PR and communications manager for International Animal rescue, who came to their aid, told The Dodo that a few years back, the river was flooded and the bears had almost drowned. The team came to their rescue and successfully rescued them. Firstly they set traps and then cut the cage to release them and protect them from the danger of drowning.

When they arrived at the sanctuary, they were afraid, exhausted and extremely weak. The reason for their fear was their past bad experiences that they had faced for years. Within a few days winter arrived and Misha and Dasha went into a cave to hibernate for winter. When they appeared again, they were not alone. Dasha had given birth to two healthy cubs and had her own family.

Before hibernating, both had given necessary care and proper diet to recover their health, but nobody could imagine that she would have cubs soon.

The newborn cubs are absolutely fine and healthy. Dasha proved to be a wonderful mom as she always watches over her cubs and takes care of them.

Vicky Mkrtchyan, environmental projects coordinator for FPWC told The Dodo that the cubs are two months old now and doing well. He also stated that it was already heart-touching to see Dasha freed from the cage and enjoying her new life and now seeing her with two babies is incredible. It is also inspiring to recall her past life behind bars and then looking at her enjoying motherhood, caring for her cubs and protecting them from the outside world.
