Over the weekend, a group of friends encountered a problem during a bachelor party near Carver, Minnesota. Mitch White and his friends were enjoying a canoeing trip on the Minnesota River when they heard a scream that grabbed their attention. Surprisingly, they found a St. Bernard stuck in mud just a few feet away from the water, buried up to its collar. Determined not to leave the dog behind, they sprang into action.

They used their oars as shovels and the friends tirelessly worked for at least thirty minutes to free the trapped canine. Recognizing that the dog was exhausted, they made sure to feed him and provide water.

Eventually, they reached out to emergency personnel, who assisted in reuniting the dog, affectionately named Ed, with his owner George Niskanen.

Grateful for the help of the Carver County Sheriff’s Department and the Carver Fire Department in rescuing Ed, Niskanen expressed his desire to personally thank the friends who attended the bachelor party for their heroic efforts.

When Ed first returned home, he was unable to walk, but with love and care, he is now eating and drinking well, gradually regaining his strength.
